"Without Hyejung, I probably would have died. That’s what I think. So, she’s my life jacket. That’s what she is to me. When you propose, you honestly make that promise that you’ll never make her cry and that you’ll never hurt her. Then right from the moment we got married and she got pregnant, so many things have happened. And what did she do wrong to have to share that fate with me?"
So CL made a frickfracking awesome performance and she gets all the hate because the songmaker used an Indian melody in the back vocal which, by some really freaking fans, mistook for a line from Qu’uran. Although I don’t understand why we shouldn’t have any knowledge about Islam (they think the word itself is holy and any line must not be used by unbelievers and in entertainment), I think they have the right to protest. But not in this way. Do they really think if someone uses biblical lines in a song the pope himself casts him out? Or do they not care because it’s not the one and real religion? Bullshit. If you wouldn’t be so mistrustful with other cultures, maybe we’d know about your belief. Maybe we could talk about it. Maybe even debate its pros and cons. But no, you sent her hate with messages like we hate you, go to hell, we don’t guarantee your safety, apologize, delete the song, I rather choose Qu’uran than you etc. And then you expect the others to respect you. You are no better than elitists and mass murderers who killed and spread hate in the name of religion. And I don’t have to respect your religion or opinion, nor should you do the same. We only have the duty to respect the fact that others are alive too and have the same right to live as any other men. Nothing else. I don’t have to respect your faith if its based on hate. And you won’t convince me with statements that hate and disrespect are not part of Islam. If you act on them, your book is worthless and counts only as fictional. So does Christianity. Or any other belief which holds with the hare and runs with the hounds.
Hold on there sweetheart, let me stop you right there.
While I completely agree that sending Chaerin hate messages and death threats is is terrible and not a way to represent a religion, did you just seriously compare angry teenagers behind their computers with mass murderers? Do you not know the definition of a mass murderer or did you just redefine the word yourself?
Please educate yourself before spouting your ignorance on the internet.
I don’t know what pisses me off more, the fact that you completely disregard the importance of the Quran for Muslims, or you, not just bundling one religion, but all religions together and putting them in a bad light.
Let me educate you on this one before getting into the issue at hand; all religions are fundamentally not based on hate, but on peace and love. Even though I currently identify as an atheist, I am raised catholic and as a child I have been taught that God flooded the Earth because He could no longer stand the hate and hostility between the humans He created. It made Him sad to see His children killing each other. Hate was never one of His intentions.
Jesus died, sacrificed himself, for the sin of others, so “men” as you call it, could live the lives they wanted.
In every religion where a single God rules, God is known to be kind kind, God is loving and God loves his children.
Religion is not based on hate, but people bring their hate into religion. And again, sending Chaerin hate for something she most likely had no say into is terrible, and doing so in name of religion is wrong because no religion endorses hate, but you bundling together an entire group of people— an entire culture based on the actions of a few very wrong individuals is wrong. It’s ignorant and it makes you no better than the people who post death threats on Chaerin’s Instagram.
I won’t even get into your comments about “not having to respect people’s religions and opinions” because it only shows how immature and small-minded you are.
Now onto the real issue here. If it’s true that a verse of the Quran is used for the song it is extremely disrespectful because Muslims are very protective of their holy book, and their religion in general. Now I am not exactly an expert on the matter (read: like I said, I identify as an atheist), but I have Muslim friends who have taught me a thing or two.
Verses of the Quran should not be used within music, especially not because it destroys the meaning of the text. The Quran is written and composed in a special way, and it’s very important to Muslims to preserve its meaning. You call it a “fictional book” but for many people it’s a guideline to live by and disrespecting their wishes regarding those guidelines is ignorant and rude. If Teddy/YG knew what they were doing when they inserted the verse they were wrong.
If it was ignorance that led to this, they are still wrong and it would be nothing short of decent to issue a formal apology.
Once again, not a single part of me endorses the hate Chaerin gets. It’s equally rude and disrespectful, not to mention that hate and death threats are not endorsed by the Quran itself.
But two wrongs do not make a right, and if the background track for Chaerin’s song is indeed a verse of the Quran the anger (not the hate, the anger) of Muslims is more than in place.
If SM and YG want to make money, they should do a photo book of Kyuhyun, Onew, and TOP shirtless.
…but they don’t want our money, such a trash, they want our souls to slowly die while craving for more.
